Members of the HANDLE project’s Special Interest Group (SIG) Kerstin Rosander and Claes Von Hosften from the Psychology Department of University of Oslo and Franck Quaine from the GIPSA lab at Grenoble University were invited to attend the project meeting which took place on January 13th at IST in Lisbon. Dr. Rosander research covers the neural sensorimotor mechanisms involved in the humans’ manipulation of objects by hand. Dr. Von Hofsten has a large experience on infants’ motor control development and especially the acquisition of reaching and grasping skills. Dr. Quaine’s research targets the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system in humans and in particularly of the hand. After a general presentation of the project and its objectives by the Project Coordinator, the Work Package leaders presented the progress made in the different research and development activities since the launch of the project. The SIG members gave presentations in their respective expertise fields related to the manipulation of objects. The presentations were followed by an enriching general discussion regarding the achievements and how to exploit the presented ideas to fulfill the objectives of the project. |
